New Global Accounts program
New Global Accounts program
Linda Parriott/CSO
To support the goal of building strategic relationships,
assisting companies in meeting business goals, and
delivering open systems solutions, HP has created a program
for global corporations. The Global Accounts program is
charged with increasing HP's business within selected global
accounts at a faster rate and with lower selling costs than
HP's other business and the rest of the industry. There are
now 20 corporations worldwide that are program members.
To be considered for this program an account must be in a
strategic industry, have over $10 million in HP computer
systems sales and support revenue, show a positive growth
trend in HP's share of its global business and IT budget,
and be in a defensible position for HP as a strategic
solutions provider.
Key elements of the Global Accounts program include building
a structured mutual plan for success with the account, a
dedicated global account manager, a headquarters account
manager, an assigned account executive, and dedicated
worldwide account teams.
For more information
For a scripted slide presentation that describes features
and customer benefits of the program for new contacts at
existing or potential global accounts access the Slide
Hotline, subject GLOBAL.

SWT factory direct marketing and telesales program
SWT factory direct marketing and telesales
program
Beth Schallop/ASD
For the U.S. only
Software Technology Division (SWT) is implementing a factory
direct marketing and telesales program. SWT factory-trained
personnel will directly contact HP installed-base customers
to generate sales for SWT software products. SWT will
handle ordering, shipping, and billing.
This can be an effective complement to field activities in
selling low-volume, low-priced software products. Customer
benefits include direct factory assistance on benefits,
configuration sizing, pricing, and installation; fast
delivery; and a 100 percent money-back guarantee if
customers are not completely satisfied.
Among benefits to HP is that customers will have invested
more firmly in HP computer systems. In addition, SWT is
promoting the HP name and product capability through
advertising, public relations, and direct marketing
activities. This is to assure installed-base customers that
HP intends to be a leader in the business computing system
market and is committed to quality software that meets
current and future needs.
SWT is featuring HP Software Vendor PC software management
tool, HP GlancePlus online performance monitoring diagnostic
software, and HP LaserRX, the resource management software

HP service parts identification changes
HP service parts identification changes
Randy Wagner/SMO
For the U.S. only
Support Materials Organization has introduced several major
policy changes within its parts identification sector.
These changes are effective April 1.
To reflect areas of responsibility more accurately, the name
Parts Identification has been altered to Service Parts
Identification (SPI). The primary focus of SPI is the
handling of technical inquiries involving identification,
verification, and description of HP service parts required
to maintain and repair HP hardware products. SPI will
support HP trade customers--self-maintainers, VABs, third-
party support providers, and government prime contractors--
and HP personnel. New department hours are 6 am to 5 pm
Pacific standard time, Monday through Friday excluding HP
holidays. The department is closed Fridays between 2 and
3:30 pm Pacific standard time.
SPI provides service parts information via two facsimile
(fax) services, HP FAX Information Retrieval Support
Technology (HP FIRST) and SPIFax. HP FIRST is a fax-on-
demand service using computer-prompted response technology
and a separate telephone number available 24 hours a day,
seven days a week. HP FIRST has a current, comprehensive
list of service parts for specific HP products that provides
a breakdown by part type category, expanded descriptions to
help identify parts quickly and easily, and current full
list prices. You may request parts price lists for specific
product families and recommended parts stocking lists. The
documents are available at no cost from HP FIRST, 208-344-
4809 using a group 3 fax machine.
SPIFax is a direct fax line into the online support center.
If you have three or more inquiries, you can send requests
to 916-785-7157, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Most
fax inquiries will be answered in less than two working
days. To ensure a timely response use the SPIFax form,
document ID 1000, available from HP FIRST.
SPI will continue to offer internal HP customers the option
of sending service inquiries via HP Desk to Parts
ID/5200/10. Response time typically is two working days,
with urgent messages managed on a "best effort" basis.
For more information
Call SPI at 916-783-0804 or Telnet 785-8600 or send an HP
Desk message to Parts ID/5200/10.

Support services agreement changes
Support services agreement changes
Mark Engebretsen/WCSO
In accordance with the corporatewide objective to streamline
and simplify the HP sales process, the Customer Support
Services Agreement (CSSA) will be obsoleted and a new master
document titled Terms and Conditions of Sale and Service
(T's and C's) will be introduced May 1 in the U.S. and
between May 1 and November 1 in Europe and Intercon.
The HP support business sells support under the terms and
conditions of the CSSA. This is a perpetual contract signed
by HP and its customers wherein individual exhibits are
appended to the CSSA establishing specific terms and
conditions for each support offering. The appended
documents often create duplicate references between the
exhibits and the CSSA.
The new master T's and C's document eliminates the
redundancies. The language of the document has been
shortened and streamlined wherever possible. The effect of
the T's and C's is to have shorter, more concise, easier to
read, and less ambiguous agreements between HP and customers
than before.
The updated agreement cover page (E00) refers to sales and
service. An optional purchase agreement exhibit that lists
the support programs is a descriptive data sheet.
The rewritten acceptance paragraph reflects revenue
recognition. HP must preapprove any requirement for special
test procedures if it is a condition of customer product
acceptance and payment criteria. A new paragraph on returns
and upgrades clarifies HP ownership and defines time
limitations for returns. Freight has been changed from
collect to prepaid for customers specifying special shipping
instructions. The updated copyrighted materials and
software license paragraph reflects current licensing
technologies and business needs. Reference to aviation
applications from the former nuclear and aviation
application paragraph has been removed.
Support exhibits
With the objective of the new T's and C's, Worldwide
Customer Support Operation has modified most support
exhibits. All support exhibits that referenced the CSSA
have been rewritten to include only those terms and
conditions specific to the service referenced in the exhibit
and eliminate items covered under the master T's and C's
document. Copies of the revised exhibits may be ordered
from the Literature Distribution Center. New publication
numbers will be provided at field training sessions.
Implementation
Field training for U.S. support agreement administrators and
field managers begins in April. All U.S. agreements with an
effective date of May 1 and beyond should contain the new
T's and C's.

Introducing HP 9000 QuickShip/800 program
Introducing HP 9000 QuickShip/800 program
Bettye Fagan/GSY
As of April 1, you can choose among the four most popular
integrated HP 9000 Series 800 system configurations and have
quick delivery. The goal of the QuickShip/800 program is to
ship bundles within 10 business days. Depending upon your
country and its customs processes, the actual customer
delivery date may be farther.
Since customer needs may vary each of the four QuickShip/800
bundles is available with or without support. All bundles
are positioned and sized to offer 8-, 16-, 32-, and 48-user
solutions on low-end Series 800 systems. If you choose
bundles that do not include support, support can be ordered
through your local sales office.
The benefits of the QuickShip/800 program include quick
delivery and simplified ordering, configuration, and
installation. Target customers for this program are
primarily VARs and distributors. Direct accounts that
require quick delivery are good candidates for
QuickShip bundles.
Ordering information
All QuickShip/800 bundles are orderable through your local
sales office order processing system. U.S. end-user
customers, distributors, and VARs can order directly through
HP DIRECT at 800-637-7740. One hundred percent
quota/commission is assigned to the appropriate SR or TSR
through open split reports and is part of the standard
quota/commission process. HP DIRECT can also address
customer presale technical questions.
To ensure the QuickShip/800 bundle objective of shipping
from the factory within 10 business days, strict ordering
guidelines must be followed, as follows:
no exceptions to the bundles
one bundle per order/section
additional products must be ordered separately
no scheduled deliveries

HP 9000 Model 837S competitively repositioned
HP 9000 Model 837S competitively repositioned
Sanjay Srivastava/GSY
The HP 9000 Model 837S business server is being repriced and
restructured as of April 1. The new P/N A1704B includes
higher memory (32 versus 16 MB), higher disk capacity in its
base configuration (677 versus 328 MB), and is U.S. list
priced at $40,000 versus $43,000. With the introduction of
P/N A1704B, the previous version, P/N A1704A, will be
removed from the Corporate Price List.
Combining aggressive pricing and fast performance makes the
Model 837S more competitive. In a midrange server
configuration the three-year cost of ownership on Model 837S
matches that of the new IBM RS/6000 Model 350 while
providing more than 20 percent performance advantage in
commercial UNIX systems applications. (Price estimates
based on published list prices; performance based on
estimated TPS performance.)
Repricing and restructuring for Model 837S combined with the
promotional discounts on Models 847S, 857S, 867S, and 877S
will help provide more competitive high-end solutions.

More power and lower price on HP 9000 Model 807S
More power and lower price on HP 9000 Model
807S
Peter Neidecker/GSY
Effective April 1, the HP 9000 Model 807S has greater
functionality at a lower price. The new Model 807S base
memory increases from 8 to 16 MB, and base configuration
disk increases from 234 to 328 MB. The price decreases
approximately four percent.
HP is adding power to its entry level business server to
offer a more competitive eight-user commercial UNIX system
and LAN server. Model 807S will be able to compete more
successfully against Intel-based servers and low-end
workstations. Model 807S offers up to 50 percent greater
transaction performance than an Intel 486 PC at a similar
price. The new changes on Model 807S also make it
competitive against the IBM RS6000 Model 220. Model
807S is priced at parity with an eight-user IBM 220 and
offers greater commercial performance and expandability, as
follows:
+=========================================================+
Model 807S IBM 220

+---------------------------------------------------------+
(1) The HP Personality Card with SCSI and Centronics is priced
to match the IBM 220 in an eight-user configuration.
The following new options have been added to Model 807S to
increase functionality and competitiveness in the low end of
the commercial UNIX systems marketplace.
+===============================================================+
P/N Description
---------------------------------------------------------------
Opt. 025 Add external SCSI and one parallel port to

Opt. AM9 Replace integrated DAT drive with QIC drive
Opt. UF4 Delete 8 MB memory
+---------------------------------------------------------------+
Options 025 and 601 enable customers to have 16 RS-
232/serial ports, external SCSI, and parallel/Centronics in
one slot. Options AM9 and UF4 reduce the price of Model
807S and allow you to pursue more competitive deals where
price point is the most important factor. The price of the
increase disk capacity to 422 MB option was decreased 62
percent to enable Model 807S to be price competitive in 400-
MB configurations.

As of April 1, low-end HP 9000 Model 8X7S systems have the
capability to integrate a quarter-inch cartridge (QIC)
drive. Model 807S, 817S, 827S, and 837S systems provide
option AM9, which replaces the integrated DAT drive with an
integrated QIC drive. This industry-standard (DC6525) 525-
MB QIC drive provides a low-cost backup solution and a more
flexible overall solution for low-end commercial UNIX
systems customers.

HP 3000 Series 9X7LX and 9X7 product line changes
HP 3000 Series 9X7LX and 9X7 product line
changes
Andrew Berlinberg/CSY
Effective April 1, changes to the HP 3000 Series 9X7LX and
9X7 systems allow you to better compete with recent product
announcements regarding the IBM RS/6000. An insert to the
900 Series HP 3000 price guide reflecting these changes was
included in the April SalesLink mailing.
Several of the changes involve product restructurings.
Series 927LX now comes standard with 1.3 GB of disk, up from
670 MB. Customers were ordering the additional disk as an
option, so this change can increase competitiveness and
improve orderability.
Series 937LX and 937 now offer a 64-user license option
to provide customers with a more competitive offering at
this user level. As a result, Series 947LX and 947 have
been restructured to include a 100-user license standard, up
from the 64-user license.
The changes to Series 927LX, 947LX, and 947 require a B
version of the product number. For example, Series 927LX
must now be ordered as P/N A1771B. As the original A
versions are no longer competitive, they have been removed
from the Corporate Price List. Orders for these products in
backlog as of April 1 will ship as planned as A versions or
can be canceled and rebooked to the new B versions. Backlog
orders for Series 947, 957, and 967 can be canceled and
rebooked to the next higher performing system for the same
price. This gives customers more for their money while
protecting your quota.

HP DTC/X.25 Structured Solution Bundle obsolescence
HP DTC/X.25 Structured Solution Bundle
obsolescence
Mark Hudson/CSY
Effective July 1, the HP DTC 16/X.25 start-up package, P/N
36954A, and DTC 48/X.25 start-up package, P/N 36950A,
Structured Solution Bundles (SSPs) will be obsoleted. The
SSPs were established to provide a cost-effective X.25
solution for single 900 Series HP 3000 system sites. With
the availability of host-based X.25 management for general
distribution on the upcoming HP MPE/iX release, 900 Series
customers have two X.25 solutions to select from, host-based
and HP OpenView PC-based X.25 management. Customers have
maximum flexibility in selecting cost-effective solutions
and SSPs are no longer necessary.
Host-based X.25 management provides the capability to manage
an X.25 link from the 900 Series host instead of from a PC.
Operators can configure a system, asynchronous ports, and
X.25 links from their consoles. Host-based X.25 management
is targeted for customers who have one 900 Series system on
a LAN, such as simple network environments, and customers
who want to manage the X.25 link from operator consoles.
HP OpenView PC-based X.25 management is targeted for
customers with multiple systems on the same LAN and multiple
types of devices, such as DTCs, switches, and PADs. HP
OpenView PC-based X.25 management provides an intuitive and
easy-to-use graphical interface for centralized management.
The cost of the PC is shared among multiple network
management applications and the X.25 link is shared among
multiple systems.

New disk drive support on HP 1000 A-Series
Marc Azary/DMD, Eric Mostardi/MCSY
Disk Memory Division and Measurement and Control
Systems Division announce support of new SCSI disk drives
for HP 1000 A-Series computers. These disk drives are
supported under HP RTE-A Revision 5.1 or a more current
release. The device driver DDQ30 and interface driver IDQ35
require Revision 5270 or later. New generation records are
available for these disks on the HP 1000 SE Access system
(SEAS/SEASNS).
The disk drives are supported as both system disks with
start-up support or as peripheral disks. The part numbers
listed are for the disk drives in standalone configuration.
The drives are also available as add-on mechanisms to HP
Series 6000 mass storage systems.
External cabinetry can hold three each of the disk drives
(order one cabinet and two kits). The 420-MB disks can fit
seven per minitower or five per rackmount enclosure.
Support of the differential disk drives allows up to 25 m of
cable between the HP 1000 and the disk drive. Differential
and single-ended devices cannot be connected to the same P/N
12016A SCSI interface card.
Read/write caching enhances performance; no data caching
ensures data integrity upon power fail.

HP ALLBASE/4GL on HP Apollo 9000 Series 700 and
400, and HP 9000 Series 300 with HP-UX 8.0
HP ALLBASE/4GL on HP Apollo 9000 Series 700 and 400,
and HP 9000 Series 300 with HP-UX 8.0
Joel Keffer/SWT
HP ALLBASE/4GL on HP-UX 8.0 is available and shipping to HP
9000 Series 300 and HP Apollo 9000 Series 400 and 700
customers. This latest release of HP ALLBASE/4GL on DART 4
gives those customers the same functionality that was
provided to HP 9000 Series 800 customers starting with DART
3. HP 9000 application developers building commercial
applications based on ALLBASE/SQL databases can have
improved productivity, high performance, and the single
vendor solution that ALLBASE/4GL delivers across HP 9000
systems.
Features
HP ALLBASE/4GL on HP-UX 8.0 provides the following new
features to improve programmer speed in creating,
maintaining, and executing applications.
CALL command--gives programmers a way to combine C language
routines with HP ALLBASE/4GL and execute them in the same
process for peak performance. This lets developers add
their own functionality, build up libraries of object code,
and create extensive development systems without giving up
performance.
pull-down menus--allow developers to navigate through the
system easily. These menus leave a portion of the screen
uncovered to allow viewing of additional menus and options.
name recall--allows programmers to scroll through names when
creating and naming new functions, records, scratch-pad
fields, or other items. This is a context-sensitive
function.
catalog display--gives programmers push-button access from
any screen to HP ALLBASE/4GL's catalog index of item types.
Like name recall, this function helps programmers specify
new ALLBASE/4GL items to ensure consistency with current
items.
larger logic blocks--allow developers to develop
applications efficiently. The maximum number of HP
ALLBASE/4GL logic block lines in a function or process has
increased from 30 to 99.
improved data type support--allows developers to specify the
storage type of any field defined in HP ALLBASE/4GL. Data
types supported are IEEE floating points (4 and 8 byte), 2's
complement integers (2 and 4 byte), packed decimal, and
character.
Ordering information
To order HP ALLBASE/4GL Version B.04 on HP-UX 8.0 for use

OpenView, IBM NetView, and Sun Microsystems SunNet Manager
can display a number of high-level system performance
metrics, but users may not have enough information to
characterize and resolve performance problems. Niche
products such as Aim Technology's Sharpshooter, which
manages NFS performance, do not offer HP PerfView's
capabilities, nor do they manage multiple vendor platforms.

New HP EtherTwist networking products
Linda Gruenberg/RND
Product names and P/Ns: HP EtherTwist Router TR, P/N
27286A; HP EtherTwist ThinLAN Hub Plus, P/N 28692A; HP
OpenView Hub Manager, P/N 28686D; HP OpenView Interconnect
Manager/DOS, P/N 27256D
Description: high-performance Ethernet-to-Token Ring
router, a manageable thin-coaxial hub, and enhancements to
HP OpenView network management products
Target market: network users; Token Ring, coax, Ethernet,
and network management
HP EtherTwist Router TR
The new Router TR enables you to sell HP EtherTwist into
Token Ring environments. The Router TR is a high-
performance multiprotocol router for connection of Ethernet,
Token Ring, and WANs. Token Ring customers can expand
networks with lower cost 10Base-T EtherTwist products and be
assured that they can keep and communicate to their Token
Ring networks. Because of the two WAN ports the Router TR
provides Token Ring to WAN connectivity even if Ethernet is
not involved.
Like all HP EtherTwist products, simplicity in ordering and
configuration is maximized. Out of the box, the Router TR
comes standard with support of concurrent operation of the
following routing protocols: TCP/IP (RIP/OSPF), DECnet IV,
Novell internet packet exchange protocol (IPX), Xerox XNS,
and AppleTalk II. It also comes with network management
support using simple network management protocol (SNMP).
HP EtherTwist ThinLAN Hub Plus
ThinLAN Hub Plus is a manageable, multiport, thin-coaxial
repeater that offers a solution for integrating and
controlling thin-coaxial networks. Targeted for
environments using thin-coaxial cable, such as factory
floors and UNIX system workstations, the new hub includes
support for SNMP/IP and IPX-based network management.
With HP EtherTwist Hub Plus products you have a solution for
thin coax or twisted pair or both. HP EtherTwist Hub Plus
products are designed to be easily combined to support large
LANs in various configurations.
HP OpenView Hub Manager
The enhanced HP OpenView Hub Manager is a workgroup manager,
managing hubs, PCs, workstations, and printers with UNIX
system JetDirect interfaces. Regardless of network
complexity Hub Manager offers integration of multivendor IPX
and IP management. In IPX/NetWare environments Hub Manager
draws a network map that includes any IPX clients and
servers on the network.
Hub Manager has a new remote alarm notification
facility and will activate a pager or voice-activated system
when an alarm is triggered. Color changes also appear on
the network map.
The original HP OpenView Hub Manager, P/N 28686C, will be
discontinued effective April 1 with orders excepted through
March 30.
HP OpenView Interconnect Manager/DOS
Effective April 1, this product replaces HP OpenView Bridge
Manager. Interconnect Manager/DOS is a combination of the
Bridge Manager and the C version of Hub Manager. With
Interconnect Manager/DOS customers can use a single product
to control hubs, PCs, workstations, bridges, and routers,
and printers with UNIX system JetDirect interfaces.
In IPX/NetWare environments Interconnect Manager/DOS draws a
network map including IPX clients and servers. In
IP/Internet environments preconfigured IP devices are also
included in the network map. Interconnect Manager/DOS
informs you of alarm conditions on the network through map
color changes and remote paging.
HP OpenView Bridge Manager
HP OpenView Bridge Manager, P/N 28653C, will be discontinued
effective June 1 with orders accepted through June 30.
HP EtherTwist upgrades
Three upgrade option products are available for customers
who purchased the original HP EtherTwist products. Option
orders may be placed starting April 15: for the U.S. and
Canada, 800-525-9283; for Latin America, Europe, and Asia
Pacific, 303-353-7650; for worldwide fax, 303-352-6152.

HP LanProbe adds echo test capability
HP LanProbe adds echo test capability
Ellen Brigham/INO
The HP LanProbe Version C.00.00 distributed LAN analysis
system performs the following four different types of echo
tests: Ethernet CTP, 802.2, ICMP echo, and Novell 802.2 and
Ethernet II. These echo tests can be performed either one
time or continuously in the background. Statistics kept on
background echo tests are maximum, minimum, average, and
last return times. Using these statistics a network manager
can benchmark the various pathways through the network over
time.
Other features of Version C.00.00 include manual adding of
nodes, simple network management protocol trap forwarding,
import/export of node data, duplicate internet protocol
address tracking, and data switch access.

HP SRM provides fast networking solutions
HP SRM provides fast networking solutions
Isabel Garity/CND
HP Shared Resource Manager (SRM) has been effective in the
instrument controller market segment but can be used
anywhere a company does not want to invest heavily in
network equipment staff to maintain the network. Customers
who update workstations (HP 9000 Series 200/300/HP Apollo
9000 Series 400 to HP Apollo 9000 Series 700) on standard
LAN networks can use current workstations as nodes on SRM
networks.
SRM is a file and printer/plotter server for the HP 9000
engineering workstations and the HP Vectra PC with the HP
BASIC/DOS or Pascal measurement coprocessor. SRM provides
the capability to share resources among workstations in a
local cluster.
SRM combines advantages of distributed processing with
advantages of a cost and space saving system. Workstations
can share files on the SRM system disk and also printers and
plotters through the older dedicated central SRM controller
or the newer SRM/UX machine. Workstations can start up
directly from the SRM system disk, gather and process
information with their own CPUs, store the data on the SRM
system disk, and print or plot graphics on the SRM system
peripherals.
The SRM server, P/N 50960A with options, and the SRM
operating system, P/N 98619A, were discontinued in May 1991
and replaced by SRM/UX, P/N E2085A. SRM/UX allows HP BASIC
or Pascal workstation client connections via LAN or SRM
interfaces and cables. This product is supported by
Measurement Systems Operation.
SRM workstation interface cards, P/N 50962A for Series
200/300/400 and P/N 50963A for the HP Vectra PC, were
scheduled for discontinuance in January 1992; but the
discontinuance is being delayed for at least one year.

HP Vectra PC boot ROM accessory with Novell and LAN
Manager support
HP Vectra PC boot ROM accessory with Novell and LAN
Manager support
Catherine Guillot/GPCD
Product name and P/N: HP Vectra PC multiprotocol boot ROM
accessory (6-pack), P/N D2407A
Description: contains six boot ROMs (for six PCs), one LAN
administrator manual, and disks with Novell and LAN Manager
drivers for the different HP Ethernet LAN cards
Target market: users who have already purchased HP Vectra
386/16N or 386/20N LAN PCs, use LAN Manager as their network
operating system, and would like to take advantage of the
remote start-up capabilities offered by the newly introduced
Microsoft LAN Manager Revision 2.1; users who purchased HP
Vectra 386/16N or 386/20N PCs without LAN card, or the new
HP Vectra 386s/20 PC, and either of the HP-offered Ethernet
cards, P/Ns 27245A, 27267A, 27247A, 27269A, or 27250A, and
would like to use the remote start-up capabilities of Novell
NetWare or MS LAN Manager 2.1
As of April 1, a new version of the HP Vectra 386/N PC boot
ROM is available as an accessory. This version offers
remote start-up protocols for both Novell NetWare and MS LAN
Manager 2.1; the first version supplied only remote start-up
for Novell NetWare. LAN models of the network-ready HP
Vectra 386/16N and 386/20N PCs will continue to ship with
the current revision (Novell only) of the boot ROM after
April 1 until they contain the new version.
Features and benefits
The HP Vectra PC multiprotocol boot ROM can be combined with
any HP LAN adapter card. Customers will be able to start up
from either a Novell NetWare or a Microsoft LAN Manager 2.1
server using the same boot ROM chip, receive a step-by-step
guide for easy installation and network configuration, and
benefit from optimal use of memory for applications and
hardware drivers; the boot ROM does not take up any
memory. At $25 per individual boot ROM, this is inexpensive
compared to other boot ROMs on the market.
Identifying new versus old boot ROM
Through the set-up program: Each boot ROM automatically
configures the set-up program to the network operating
system protocol it supports. With current boot ROM, only
Novell options come up in set-up. With new boot ROM both
Novell and LAN Manager options come up automatically. If
there is doubt about which boot ROM is in a particular
machine, a quick look at the set-up will tell you. You can
also look at the revision number on the chip itself:
Current boot ROM has the revision number A.01.XX. New boot
ROM has the revision number A.02.XX.
Interchangeability between new and old boot
ROMs
New boot ROM is backward compatible on any HP Vectra 386/N
PC, regardless of its set-up program, BIOS version, or
manufacture date.
The P/N D2407A accessory is also supported on the new HP
Vectra 386s/20 PC. The LAN administrator manual, delivered
with P/N D2407A, documents the installation of the boot ROM
in the PCs and provides installation procedures of remote
start-up services for both LAN Manager and Novell. Only
Revision 2.1 of MS LAN Manager supports remote start-up
capabilities. LAN Manager 2.1 works on OS/2 Revision 1.3.

and 700, and Sun Microsystems Sun/4 SPARC-based systems. HP
is the first X-terminal vendor to offer X-server software on
CD-ROM media format.
As the CD-ROM format emerges as the standard media for
software and data storage, customers may prefer this media
option for X-server software. Customers who are using CD-
ROM drives in networks can use the X-server CD-ROM media
option to streamline software administration methods, which
can lead to large savings in software administration costs.
